Former Vice Chancellor of The University of the West Indies, Professor the Hon. Rex Nettleford has been appointed an Ambassador at Large by the Government of Jamaica. The announcement was made on Friday, September 24 by Minister of Information the Hon. Burchell Whiteman who represented the Prime Minister, at a Cultural Evening and Reception organised by the University to honour the outgoing Vice Chancellor. The announcement was the highpoint of the evening which included tributes and presentations from several members of the university community as well as performances by the Mighty Sparrow, Ernest Ranglin, The University Singers and the National Dance Theatre Company.
