Symposium on World Cup Cricket

The Mona School of Business, in conjunction with the JCC Conference Board, Jampro and the Jamaica Tourist Board will host a symposium on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at The Mona Visitors’ Lodge & Conference Centre from 8:00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. The symposium’s objective is to sensitize Jamaican businesses about the mechanics of positioning themselves to fully exploit the third largest sporting event in the world, the World Cup Cricket Tournament to take place in Jamaica and the Caribbean in 2007. The symposium will examine events held in South Africa (host of the last world cup), Manchester, UK (host of the last Commonwealth Games), Australia, Atlanta and others, all designed to broaden the knowledge base. The symposium will include a presentation from Dr. Ali Bacher, the architect of South Africa’s event.
The event will include presentations on Accommodation & Hospitality; Music/Culture/Entertainment; Event Support Services; Transportation, Tours & Attractions; Media & Communication; Finance & Financial Services; and Manufacturing/Retail. Panelists will include business persons, sports and public sector administrators such as Mike Fennell, Pat Rousseau, Michael Hall, Errol Greene, Don Lockerbie, Chris Dehring and Chris Blackwell.
