UWI Student Selected for Meeting of Nobel Laureates

Miss Xsitaaz Chadee, a postgraduate student at the UWI St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad is one of five outstanding young scientists selected from developing countries to attend the annual meeting of Nobel Laureates in Physics, Chemistry and Medicine to be held in Lindau, Germany from June 26 to July 1. Miss Chadee will participate in round table discussions on interdisciplinary topics. The Lindau meetings are organised by a voluntary committee, and are aimed at giving young scientists an opportunity for personal interactions with Nobel Laureates. The students selected must possess excellent academic records, show a genuine interest in science and research and be familiar with societal impacts of scientific knowledge and its applications.
Miss Chadee achieved a first class hons. degree in Physics and Mathematics and was the first recipient of the Caribbean Young Scientist Fellowship which was undertaken at the Jawaharlal
Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research at Bangalore, India. She will shortly be completing her masters of philosophy degree on “Modelling of the transportation of pollutants from the offshore gas fields” .
