UWI Mona’s Credit Union emerges regional winner for coveted presentation

Credit Union Ltd. was selected from among some 345 credit unions within the Caribbean, by the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions to showcase its achievements under the theme “Model Credit Unions, Charting the Way Forward’. This was recently held at the Conference of that body in St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Credit Union was selected on the basis that it satisfied the financial safety and soundness criteria set by the World Council of Credit Unions, as well as the impact it has had as a good corporate citizen on the communities it serves.
One of the highlights of the presentation was the Credit Union’s efforts in building the endowment fund of the University of the West Indies by offering their savings product, the Golden Harvest, to staff and alumni with a view to having them bequeath a part or all of these savings to the UWI. Vice Chancellor Emeritus,
Professor Rex Nettleford, Vice Chancellor E. Nigel Harris and Cabinet Secretary Dr. Carlton Davis are among the first ones to have done this
