International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

The Centre for Gender and Development Studies UWI and the UWI HIV/AIDS Response Programme (UWIHARP), are mounting an exhibition in the Main Library of the Mona Campus to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women which will be observed on November 25, 2004. The day will also mark the start of a 16- Day Campaign of Activism Against Gender Violence which will end on December 10, 2004. The theme of this year’s observation is For the Health of Women, For the Health of the World: No More Violence.
It is intended to raise awareness about gender-based violence as a human rights issue at the local, national, regional and international levels and to highlight the intersection of violence against women and the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The exhibition will be opened to the University community for the duration of the 16-day campaign.
