The network was launched simultaneously at five sites including the Offices of the Joint Board, 14 Gibraltar Camp Way, UWI, Mona, the Ministry of Education and three colleges - St. Joseph’s Teachers College, Mico Teachers College and Northern Caribbean University in Mandeville. Minister Maxine Henry Wilson launched the site while speaking from the Ministry of Education and Principal of the UWI, Mona Campus, Professor the Hon. Kenneth Hall welcomed participants from the Offices of the JBTE. The Wireless Wide Area Network is a joint venture of the JTBE and the Caribbean Centre for Excellence in Teaching Training (CCETT) and is an outgrowth of an initiative to expand the use of information and communication technology in the education sector. The network links educational institutions across the island and will facilitate the improvement of teaching skills through greater information sharing between teachers.
