Foreign Language Assistants Programme in France
The French Government will be allocating some positions to Jamaican English Language Assistants for next academic year. These positions will be available in Mainland France as well as in French overseas departments of Guadeloupe and Martinique. The aim of this programme is to allow Jamaican foreign assistants to master the French language and customs while providing French students with the authenticity of their language and the richness of their culture. This programme is open to Jamaican professionals and students aged 20 to 30. All candidates should have the equivalent of an Associate Degree and a fair knowledge of spoken French.
Application forms for this programme will be available at the Embassy of France, The University of the West Indies (Department of Modern Languages), UTech (Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies), Shortwood Teachers’ College (Department of Modern Languages) and the Northern Caribbean University. They can also be downloaded at http://www.ciep.fr These applications filled in, along with required documents must be returned to the Cultural Services of the French Embassy by January 28, 2005. If the application is approved, the candidate will be asked to attend a final selection mid-February. The jury should be composed of representatives of this Embassy, the Ministry of Education, the UWI, and the JAFT (Jamaican Association of French Teachers).
