11th Annual International Conference on Diabetes
The UWI’s Diabetes Outreach Project (UDOP), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/World Health Organization (WHO) and the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI) will host its 11th International Conference on Diabetes from March 3 to 6 at the Jamaica Conference Centre, Kingston, Jamaica. The theme of this year’s conference is Diabetes and Aging. UWI Vice Chancellor, Prof. E. Nigel Harris will welcome participants from around the world to the conference at the opening ceremony on Thursday March 3, while WHO/PAHO Representative in Jamaica, Ernest Pate will give the keynote address. The Sir Alister McIntyre Distinguished Lecture is an integral part of the Annual Diabetes Conference. This year, it will be delivered during the first scientific session on Thursday, March 3. The topic of the lecture will be ‘Aging, the Greatest Public Health Challenge for the 21st Century. The speaker will be by Dr. Alexander Kalache, of the World Health Organisation in Geneva.
