Second Annual Graduate Students’ Conference
The Mona Association of Postgraduate Students (MAPS) in collaboration with the Research Consortium will be hosting the Second Annual Graduate Students’ Conference, on the theme Promoting Development through Research and Innovation. The conference is to be held at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus from Thursday, February 17 to Friday, February 18. The Opening Ceremony will be on Thursday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Undercroft, Senate Building. The keynote speaker at the opening ceremony will be the Most Hon. Edward Seaga, Distinguished Fellow, School for Graduate Studies and Research, UWI.
The Graduate Students’ Conference provides a forum to facilitate meaningful dialogue on topical issues facing the region and to promote and expose the wealth of research being done by postgraduate students from the region or those doing work in the Caribbean.
Presenters will be from all three campuses of the UWI, as well as Northern Caribbean University, who will take part in seven panel discussions between Thursday and Friday. Presentations to be done relate to topics will include Cultural and Social Issues, Education, Science and Technology, Caribbean History, International Relations, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development.
