18-Month Distance Certificate Interdisciplinary Programme

The Centre for Gender and Development Studies, Regional Coordinating Unit is offering an 18-Month Distance Certificate Interdisciplinary Programme in Gender and Development Studies. According to the Centre, this field of study is of particular importance in contemporary Caribbean society because it deals with social, economic, political, and personal issues and is extremely relevant and useful not just in providing knowledge and skills for a variety of work situations but also valuable for understanding oneself and one’s identity and rights in a society. The Programme is ideally suited for persons working in non-governmental organizations and other areas such as teaching service, health services, social work, guidance counseling, police force, human resources, and other governmental organizations.
Applications for this 18-Months Distance Certificate Programme are now being accepted from all participating UWI countries. Specially admitted” students are also being accepted for the first time in the academic year 2005/06. The deadline for application for regular admission is March 31, 2005 whereas “specially admitted” students have until August 31, 2005. Interested persons may contact the Centre for Gender and Development Studies, Mona Campus and Distance Education sites in contributing countries of the UWI or the Programme Coordinator, Dr. Yasmeen Yusuf-Khalil at (876) 927-1913.
