Applications for Fulbright Graduate Scholarship
The U.S. Embassy’s Office of Public Affairs is offering scholarships to Jamaican university graduates interested in helping to further Jamaica’s development. The scholarships will cover full tuition and tuition-related costs for two years of study to pursue either a Master's Degree or a Ph.D. in the Humanities or Social Sciences at an American university.
Fulbright grants are awarded to qualified Jamaican graduates who have completed at least a first-class honors, a upper second class honors, or a lower second-class honors bachelor's degree or its equivalent in the Humanities or Social Sciences at a reputable institution between 1994 and 2005.
Preliminary application forms for the Fulbright Graduate Scholarships are available from the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Public Affairs, the University of the West Indies, the University of Technology and Northern Caribbean University. The completed forms and required documents must be submitted to the Office of Public Affairs by Friday, July 29, 2005.
Qualified applicants interested in applying for the Fulbright Scholarships are required to take the paper-based Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) at its next sitting, if they have not yet done so. They must also submit proof along with their applications that they have registered to take the next test (if they have not already taken the test and thus have their scores to submit with their applications). Jamaican citizens who possess U.S. Alien Registration or “Green Cards,” are pursuing studies at a U.S. university, or are living in the United States are not eligible to apply.
