Chancellor Hall’s Super Lion Award

The Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Hon. Kenny Anthony, who is a graduate of the UWI Mona and a past resident of Chancellor Hall has accepted the invitation of the Organising Committee to be the Keynote Speaker at the 2005 Super Lion Award’s Banquet at the Mona Visitor’s Lodge and Conference Centre on Friday, April 8 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Prime Minister Anthony is one of four past residents of Chancellor Hall who have become outstanding Caribbean leaders and Prime Ministers of their respective countries.
The criteria for the award include professional advancement, academic or business achievement, community or national involvement and contribution to regional integration in the Caribbean.
The Super Lion Award’s Banquet is held annually as the culmination of Chancellor Hall’s Lions Week, where the students refer to themselves as “lions”, during which they compete in various Inter-Block activities - debates, block lighting, culinary arts, drama, sports, - for the Warden’s Plate which is presented in memory of the Hall’s first Warden, Dr. Francis Bowen.
The winner of the Inter-Block Debate receives the Leslie Robinson Trophy which was donated by a former Warden and Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Leslie Robinson who was Chairman of the Super Lion Selection Committee for twenty five (25) years. The current Chairman is Prof. Errol Miller, Professor of Teacher Education at UWI.
