Physics Week includes Open Day for High Schools
In commemoration of the World Year of Physics, the Department of Physics, Mona will host Physics Week from April 4-8.
On Monday, April 4 activities kick off with the launch of an exhibition on “A Century of Physics” and “Research in the Department of Physics” at the red brick patio in the Department.
Other activities include a public lecture titled “Renewable Energy and the Global Energy Mix” by Dr. Raymond Wright, Group Managing Director of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica. This will take place at the Science Lecture Theatre beginning at 6:00 p.m. On Thursday, April 7 there will be a Physics Fun Day featuring displays by industries which make use of Physics and there will also be interactive demonstrations. On Friday there will be an Open Day for High Schools featuring demonstrations of experiments from the CSE and CAPE Physics syllabus and tours of the Physics Department. The public is invited.
