Risk and Responsibility for Education-abroad Programmes: The Caribbean Perspective
The UWI’s Office of Administration and Special Initiatives in collaboration with Queen’s University in Ontario will host a seminar entitled ‘Risk and Responsibility for Education-abroad Programmes: The Caribbean Perspective” from June 22- 24. The seminar will be partially funded by the Commonwealth universities study abroad consortium, and will be held at the Mona Campus. The overall aim of the seminar is to discuss specific issues that have proven to be or that might be challenging in the Caribbean context, as well as to explore a range of feasible approaches to addressing such issues. The seminar will target decision makers, senior administrators and programme managers with responsibility for, or who are involved in, education-abroad programmes and activities in higher education institutions, with particular focus on the Caribbean region. One of the anticipated outcomes would be an improvement in the implementation of risk and responsibility policies among Caribbean higher education institutions that will enhance the safety and security of participating students and encourage participation by increasing students confidence in their own security.
