Seminar- Risk and Responsibility for Education Abroad Programmes
The University of the West Indies' Office of Administration and Special Initiatives in collaboration with Queen's University, Ontario, will host a Seminar, 'Risk and Responsibility for Education-Abroad Programmes: The Caribbean Perspective' from June 22 - 24, 2005. This Seminar, partially funded by CUSAC (Commonwealth Universities Study Abroad Consortium), will be held at the Mona Visitors' Lodge, UWI, Mona Campus.
The overall aim is to discuss specific issues that have proven to be or might be challenging in the Caribbean context, as well as explore a range of feasible approaches to addressing such issues. The seminar would be of interest to decision makers, senior administrators and programme managers with
responsibility for, or who are involved in, education-abroad programmes and activities in higher education institutions, with particular focus on the Caribbean region.
One of the anticipated outcomes would be an improvement in the implementation of Risk & Responsibility policies among Caribbean higher education institutions that will enhance the safety and security of participating students and encourage participation by increasing students' confidence in their own security. This is a growing concern and participants will suggest appropriate strategies for resolving this issue.
