Quality Enhancement Conference at UWI, St Augustine Campus

The University of the West Indies through the Quality Assurance Unit of the Board for Undergraduate Studies will host a Quality Enhancement Conference on June 8 and 9 under the theme: Quality Enhancement: Innovation and Change. The Conference will be held at the Learning Resource Centre at the St Augustine Campus in Trinidad. Quality is a major issue of concern to educators the world over, and this Conference invites Caribbean educators to share with international and regional presenters some of the many contemporary perspectives which relate to the quality discourse. Such perspectives are vital to the process of re-engineering learning, and of crafting relevant and innovative education for the new generation and a globalized world.
The opening address will be given by Professor Angela Glasner, former Pro Vice Chancellor at University of Portsmouth, UK, who will speak on the topic Education for the 21st Century: re-engineering for quality enhancement. Other keynote addresses will be given by Dr Claudia Harvey from UNESCO in Namibia, who will speak on Context and Curriculum for Basic Education for All: Perspectives from UNESCO on June 9, and Professor Hilary Beckles, Principal of the UWI Cave Hill Campus who will speak on The Liberalization of Caribbean Higher Education within the Context of WTO/GATS at the closing ceremony that afternoon.
