The University of the West Indies’ Appointments Committee has approved the recommendation that the title “Honorary Professor’ in the area of Epidemiology and HIV/AIDS, on attachment to the School for Graduate Studies and Research, should be conferred on Chief, Epidemiology and AIDS at the Ministry of Health in Jamaica, Dr. Peter Figueroa. The title has been conferred with immediate effect under the provisions of one of the University’s ordinances which states that the University Appointments Committee may confer the title of Honorary Professor on any person who is making a substantial contribution to the academic life of a Department through teaching or research.
