July-At-The-UWI 2005
The 9th July-at-the-UWI Programme organised by the Special International Group Programmes Office of Administration and Special Initiatives was recently held at the Mona Campus. The programme was designed to expose pre-university children between the ages 12 to 17 years to the University of the West Indies. They were also exposed to the science and culture of the countries which contribute to the UWI. In addition to a guided tour of the historical sites on Mona Campus, the students went on field visits to the Caribbean Regional Drug Testing Laboratory and other institutions, including the Institute of Jamaica’s Natural History Museum and the Jamaica Bureau of Standards.
The July-at-the-UWI Programme began as a pilot project in July 1997 with 25 children between the ages of 7 to 9 years.
