Prestigious ILO Nobel Peace Prize Social Policy Lecture Series for 2005
The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, has been selected by the International Institute for Labour Studies in Geneva, Switzerland as the venue to host the Prestigious ILO Nobel Peace Prize Social Policy Lecture Series for 2005.
The lectures will be held from December 5-7, at the UWI Mona Campus. This year, the topic of the lecture series is “International Competition: Implications for Labour and Employment”. Professor Gary Gereffi, of Duke University, USA, will deliver the main lectures. In addition, there will be three lectures on the sub themes: Development of Global Value Chains: Theoretical and Empirical Evidence; Evolution of Trade Arrangements and Quota Regimes and Outsourcing and its Impact on Employment and Income Distribution. There will also be three symposia in connection with the lectures. These symposia are meant to facilitate a policy dialogue between the academic community and practitioners on emerging issues of concern to the ILO.
