Eintou Pearl Springer – Trinidadian Poet to Launch book in Jamaica
Eintou Pearl Springer, story teller, actress and author, will be in Jamaica from December 5-12 to promote her new collection of poems titled Loving the Skin I’m In. Her visit is sponsored by BWIA West Indies Ltd., the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission, the Marcus Garvey Movement and the Department of LIteratures in English, at the UWI.
The acclaimed poet in 2002 was hnoured as Poet Laureate of Port of Spain and in 2004 was awarded the National Silver Hummingbird medal for her contribution to the development of Arts and Culture. She will perform at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, UWI on Sunday, December 11 at 5:00 p.m. She will also host a story tellling session at the Marcus Garvey Liberty Hall, 76 King Street, on Wednesday, December 7 at 2:30 p.m. for children from surrounding schools and communitites. On Friday December 9 at 4:30 p.m. she will address a Women’s Resource and Outreach audience at Webster Memorial Hall.
Eintou has issued four books of poetry, including Out of the Shadows, Focused, and Moving into the Light. She has also publidshed a collection of children’s stories entitled God Child.
