Plans are well advanced for the opening of the Juici Patties outlet in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences for Semester Two of the 2005-2006 academic year. The outlet is being constructed as part of efforts by the UWI, Mona Campus to be more responsive to the needs of the student population, by establishing eating-places at easily accessible points on the Campus. Commercial facilities such as KFC, Submerge and Pages have been installed at Mona, and over the years, an outlet has been placed in each of the Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities and Education. The Juici Patties outlet replaces the kiosk, which previously existed in the Faculty of Pure & Applied Sciences (FPAS).
When completed, the Juici Patties outlet will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will operate from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays. Opening on Sundays will be determined based on demand. The outlet will serve its trademark patties, and also provide a wide range of dishes with a heavy emphasis on local foods. Its establishment is a further step in the Campus’ efforts to widen the food options available to students at an affordable cost.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the design of the outlet conforms to the restrictions imposed by the Master Plan and blends with the overall setting of the Campus. Special attention will be paid to the landscaping while signage will be restrained and limited to the north-west of the building, which faces the student parking lot. Persons wishing to access the outlet will be able to do so through the student parking lot.
