Professor of History in the Department of History and Archaeology at the UWI Mona Campus, Dr. Verene Shepherd has been appointed Chair of the Board of the National Heritage Trust. Professor Shepherd has also been appointed by the Prime Minister as Chair of the National Planning Committee to plan commemorative events for the bicentenary of the abolition of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade (1807-2007).
