UWI Homework Centre
In order to raise funds for the UWI Homework Centre, a special Benefit Dance Performance entitled “Movements to Care” will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1 at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts. Special guest performers for the concert will include the UWI Dance Society, Edna Manley College School of Dance and the Wolmer’s Dance Troupe. The “Operation UWI Homework Centre” project is aimed at providing the Centre with well-needed resources by increasing awareness of the centre and also establishing a homework assistance volunteer programme for the children attending the Homework Centre. The Homework Centre is an aftercare facility established in 1995 by the University Women’s Group from the Centre for Gender and Development Studies. The project is being led by Sharian Hanson, a student of the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) and is being done in partial fulfillment for the requirements for the degree in Media and Communication.
