Commemoration Celebrations
Preparations have begun for the Annual Commemoration Celebrations and Alumni Week to take place at the UWI, Mona Campus over the period February 24. The Commemoration Celebrations provide an opportunity to celebrate the founding of the University and recognise its regional nature, while assisting to engender a greater sense of belonging and develop a feeling of camaraderie among staff, students and graduates. Each year, the celebrations are dedicated to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the institution. For 2006, the honoree will be Professor the Hon. Leslie Robinson, a founding member of the academic staff of the then University College of the West Indies, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the teaching of Mathematics at the institution and his overall involvement in the life of the University as Pro-Vice Chancellor, the first Principal of the Mona Campus and Director of Planning. Further information on the Commemoration Celebrations may be obtained from the Public Relations Office at Tel no. 977-5941 or 935-8692.
