Third Regional Trade Policy Course
The University of the West Indies in collaboration with the World Trade Organization will be conducting the Third Regional Trade Policy Course (RTPC) at the Mona Campus, over the period January 23 to April 14. The course, which was first held in January of 2004, is geared towards the training of government trade officials from throughout the Caribbean, including Cuba and the Dominican Republic. To date, some fifty-nine officials have been successfully trained, and it is expected that a further 26 will be trained this year. The course, which addresses all areas of existing WTO agreements, is intended to develop trade capacity in WTO matters. In addition to lectures and general discussions, participants are required to take part in simulation exercises. One of the unique features of this collaboration is the emphasis on co-lecturing between WHO and regional trade experts, which allows for a regional perspective.
