Jamaican American Author to Launch Book at Red Bones

Jamaican-descended Thomas Glave, one of the most acclaimed writers of his generation in North America, will launch his exciting new book, “Words to our Now:” Imagination and Dissent, a collection of Lyrical and Political Essays,’ at the Red Bones Blues Café, 21 Braemar Avenue, Kingston 10, on Tuesday, January 24, at 6:00 p.m. The collection, written in what critics have praised as Glave’s “Fearless” style, tackles such controversial topics as the U.S-led war in Iraq, the abuses of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib, anti-gay violence and homosexuality in Jamaica and the U.S.
Glave will read from “Words to our Now” at the book launch. This event which is free and open to the public is co-sponsored by the Department of Literatures in English and the Reggae Studies Unit at the UWI.
