For the past five years, the University has taken the opportunity to bestow the ‘Luminary Award’ on Caribbean persons who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields. The 2006 Luminary Award recipients are The Hon. Maurice Facey, Chairman of Pan-Jamaica Investment Trust Limited., Ambassador Peter King, Special Envoy of Jamaica; George Gobin, General Manager of Microsoft West Indies and Dancia Penn, Deputy Governor of the British Virgin Islands. Special Awards will also be made to the retired leadership of the University, Sir Shridath Ramphal, Sir Alister McIntyre and Professor the Hon. Rex Nettleford, for their contribution to the development of the University and the region.
