Professor Marlene Hamilton Appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor Board for Undergraduate Studies

Professor Marlene Hamilton has been appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Board for Undergraduate Studies to replace Professor Elsa Leo-Rhynie who has been appointed Principal of the UWI Mona Campus with effect from February 15. Professor Leo-Rhynie replaces Professor Kenneth Hall who will succeed Governor General, Sir Howard Cooke. Professor Marlene Hamilton has had a distinguished career at the University of the West Indies and was the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Board for Undergraduate Studies. Her academic interests include gender roles in education and issues affecting levels of achievement in specific disciplines at different levels of the education continuum. She has authored several articles on these subject areas and has also successfully supervised more than thirty postgraduate students at the Masters and PhD levels. In 2002, the Government of Jamaica conferred upon her the award of the Order of Distinction, Commander Class.
