Association of Schools of Social Work Conference
Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work Dr. Peta-Anne Baker and Resident Tutor at the Social Welfare Training Centre at the UWI Mona Campus Lincoln Williams were among 24 participants from 17 countries who attended the recent half-yearly meeting of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Schools of Social Work held in Hatfield, England. The meeting focused on the board’s strategic planning process, reaffirmed the organization’s mission statement and worked to draft goals and objectives for each of the four key areas of its mission. The key areas are “promoting excellence in social work education, research and scholarship worldwide; creating and maintaining a community of social work educators; facilitating participation in exchanges of all types; and representing social work education internationally”.
