Call for Papers Symposium in honour of Professor Edwin Jones
The Department of Government at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus is honoring Professor Edwin Jones for his significant contribution to his profession on November 25 at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre.
The theme of the symposium “C21st Public Sector Management: The Way Forward for the Caribbean” and will focus on the area of scholarship as well as the problem solving impulse often captured by Professor Jones’ work.
In honouring Professor Jones, the symposium will examine Public Sector Management (PSM) in the Caribbean from a twenty first century perspective, with emphasis on the way forward. The focus will be on the lessons that the Caribbean has learnt regarding public policy and its administration, and how they may face related challenges. The honoree is an outstanding scholar and the Doyen of Public Administration in the Caribbean region.
Scholarly papers are invited from public policy makers, academics, professional practitioners from public and private sectors and graduate students, regarding lessons and new challenges, with an emphasis on respective country perspectives.
We invite individual papers but encourage panel proposals. Each presentation will last for fifteen minutes.
Please e-mail to govt@uwimona.edu.jm a paper or panel title, a 350 – word abstract for each paper, a brief CV for each presenter to govt@uwimona.edu.jm no later than June 16, 2006. Complete contact information for applicants or panel chair must be included in email. Those who submit papers/ panels will be notified no later than August 16, 2006 of their participation.
