Caribbean Conference on Information Systems
The Departments of Management Studies and Mathematics & Computer Science at The University of the West Indies, who jointly administer the PhD programme in Information Systems (IS) are hosting The Caribbean Conference on Information Systems (CCIS), an international conference on IS Research, June 1 to 4 at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge & Conference Centre.
The conference is a gathering of international and local scholars in information systems and Jamaican IT leaders and professionals who will explore several aspects of the conference theme, “Impacting Information Systems Practice in Developing Countries through Relevant Research – A Caribbean Perspective.”
The major objectives of the conference are to permit scholarly interaction among the IS doctoral students, IS professionals, and the international and local academics in attendance and provide a forum for IS stakeholders in the private and public sectors and IS academics to collaboratively contribute to a research agenda that has relevance within a Caribbean context.
Fifteen international IS scholars, five local academics, and the 14 IS doctoral students from UWI will present research papers that provide insights into information systems problems in developing countries. Several of the invited scholars will participate with Jamaican IT leaders in examining specific issues that are pivotal to the successful application of information technology for economic development in Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean in three panel discussions.
There is a special registration fee for students and staff of tertiary institutions.
