Message from the Principal
As you may be aware, the University is about to begin the process of
preparing a strategic plan for the 2007-2012 period. This will be the
University's third strategic plan and it will be developed against the
background of significant changes in the competitive environment facing
the University. It is the intention of the University management to
involve all members of the university community, and key stakeholders,
in the process of developing this plan that will seek to chart our path
over the next five years.
At the Mona Campus, over the last two years, there has been a focus on
transforming and repositioning the Campus to build on our strengths,
while responding appropriately to changes in our external operating
environment. In this regard, the Campus has been making efforts to use
the experiences of its staff members to inform its repositioning
exercise. An important example of such an effort was the recently
concluded workplace satisfaction survey, the first of its kind to be
conducted at the University of the West Indies.
I now invite you, along with all other staff members on the Campus, to
a meeting on June 5 at 10:00am in the Assembly Hall. At this meeting we
will have an opportunity to discuss the key findings of the workplace
satisfaction survey, formally introduce the strategic planning exercise
to the campus community and identify mechanisms through which each
member of the community can be involved in this important planning
activity.
