The Fifth William Dennis Memorial Lecture

Professor Graham Serjeant, Professor Emeritus, University of the West Indies and Chairman of the Sickle Cell Trust in Jamaica will deliver the Fifth William Dennis Memorial Lecture to be held on July 6 in the Main Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of the West Indies, Mona beginning at 5:00 p.m. Sponsored by Jamaica Money Market Brokers Limited, this lecture is held to commemorate the life of William Dennis, Senior Paediatric Surgeon, who served at the Bustamante Hospital for 25 years until the time of his death in 1999. This year’s lecture is entitled ‘The Surgeon and the Child with Sickle Cell Disease”. As a prelude to Dr Serjeant’s lecture there will be short presentations by Dr Evans Valerie, Assistant Professor of Paediatric Surgery, Louisiana State University on ‘Laparoscopic Surgery in Sickle Cell Disease’ and Cherie Tulloch, medical student on ‘The pathogenesis of Sickle Cell Disease”. Health professionals and the public are invited.
