The University of the West Indies community expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rev. Dr. Lewin Williams who recently passed away after a brief illness in New Jersey, U.S.A. Condolence is also extended to the staff and students of the United Theological College in their time of loss. Rev. Dr. Lewin Williams was the President of the United Theological College of the West Indies.
The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Rev. Karl Johnson, addressed the community in chapel on Tuesday morning, September 19, expressing on behalf of the Board of UTC sympathy for the family and friends of Dr. Williams. He further announced to the college the Board’s appointment of Rev. Trevor Edwards as Acting President, at least until the time of the full Board of Governors meeting in October.
Arrangements for the memorial service to be held in Jamaica have not yet been finalized. But a community worship service was held at UTC to honour the life and work of Dr. Williams, on Wednesday, September 20, in the college chapel.
