Two students from The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Samuel Morgan and Zelia Budhan, are recipients of fellowships to participate in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Youth Forum which will be held in the framework of the 10th ITU TELECOMWORLD Exhibition and Forum in Hong Kong from December 4-8, 2006.
As Youth Forum fellows the recipients will be given an opportunity to present “Action Plans” at the 10th ITU TELECOMWORLD Exhibition and Forum in Hong Kong. These two recipients were nominated from six hundred (600) applicants in an essay writing competition for university and higher education students. Samuel Morgan is a Computer Science and Mathematics major in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences and Zelia Budhan is a Medical Science student.
The ITU Youth Forum is a capacity-building event designed to engage youth in discussion centred around information and technology communication with the hope that the expertise and knowledge gained in this forum will spur youth to action in developing their country economically and socially.
