The UWI Young Economists Association (YEA) has been invited by the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller to become a member of the National Council on Science and Technology (NCST) based on their successes and contribution to the Jamaican society.
The YEA is an organization comprising persons with an interest in Caribbean development and spanning various disciplines. They seek to inform public discussions and policies, while encouraging the exploration of divergent views. It is a student-governed organization that promotes independent thought and professional skills development. This is done through activities such as the writing of papers for publication, discussion sessions, seminars, workshops and trips.
Students are invited to join the YEA, which meets on Thursdays at 2.00 p.m. in Seminar Room 6 (SR 6) at the Management Studies building.
