Professor Hyacinth Evans, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education and Director of the Institute of Education, at The University of the West Indies, Mona has been invited to participate in the Teacher Education Study of Mathematics (TEDS-M) International Expert Panel meeting that will be held from September 29 - 30, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.
TEDS-M 2008 is a comparative study of teacher education with a focus on the preparation of teachers of mathematics at the primary and lower secondary levels. It is carried out under the aegis of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA), and directed by researchers at Michigan State University (MSU) and the Australian Council for Educational Research. The objective of the Expert Panel meeting is to review assessments of future teachers’ knowledge of general pedagogy, opportunities to learn and beliefs about teaching and learning mathematics.
