UWI Undertakes an On-Line Capacity Building Programme
The University of the West Indies (UWI) in collaboration with the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) of the Organization of American States (OAS) is developing a sustainable on-line capacity-building programme for drug demand reduction in the Caribbean. The direct beneficiaries of this programme are selected professionals in both public and private institutions working in substance abuse-related disciplines in the region. In order to establish and implement the programme as soon as possible, the UWI’s Distance Education Centre (UWIDEC) held a workshop recently at UWI, Mona Campus, aimed at training the selected professionals in the use of new education technologies. UWI and CICAD look forward to the implementation of this online program that will support drug prevention and treatment initiatives throughout the region.
