Peer Support Providers Week
The Peer Support Providers (formerly known as the Peer Counsellors) will be having a week of activities from October 9-13. The highlight of the week is a presentation done in collaboration with the University Health Centre Education Committee entitled "A Cry for Help: Helping Someone who has Suicidal Feelings" at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona on Thursday, October 12 at 1 pm. The presentation is designed to assist individuals in helping others cope with suicidal feelings. The presenters will be: Dr Donovan Thomas, author of the book “Confronting Suicide- Helping Teens at Risk" and Caribbean Regional Director of Youth for Christ and Dr Franklyn La Hee - Consultant Psychiatrist, UWI Health Centre.
Other activities for the week include displays in both the Main Library and the Science Library and Sticker Day on Wednesday, October 11.
The PSP programme is accepting applications from first and second year students who would like to apply to join the programme until the end of October. Application forms are available in Room 14 at the UWI Health Centre.
