Edwin Jones Symposium

“21st Century Public Sector Management: The Way Forward” is the theme of the Symposium being hosted by the Department of Government, UWI, Mona. The Symposium bears the name of the honouree, Professor Emeritus of the Department, Edwin Jones. There will be an official Opening Ceremony on Friday, November 24 at 6 pm at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona with remarks being brought by His Excellency, the Most Honourable Professor Kenneth Hall. Pro-Vice Chancellor and Principal, Professor Elsa Leo-Rhynie will participate in this event and a tribute will be made to Professor Edwin Jones by Professor Rupert Lewis. Honourable Carlton Davis will be the guest speaker.
The Symposium continues on Saturday, November 25 at 8 am in the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre with presentations focusing on several issues centred on the theme. The topics include: Ethics, Social Capital and Governance: Implications for Public Service, Measuring the Utility of Institutional Reform in the Public Service and Local Governance-Engaging Community Actors.
