The Institute of Caribbean Studies, UWI, Mona, in conjunction with Black Filmmaker (BFM), presents a weekend long programme of films depicting the experience of people from the African Diaspora. The selected titles have all been featured at film festivals worldwide, and this special showcase represents the first time that they will be available for public viewing in Jamaica. Admission is free. Some titles are certified for persons over the age of 18.

The festival kicks off on Friday, December 15 at 7:30 pm in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre, (N1) Faculty of Humanities and Education, UWI, Mona, with the Black British classic Burning An Illusion directed by Menelik Shabazz. On Saturday and Sunday screenings will be at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm in the same venue. Highlights include Hasta Siempre (director: Ishmahil Blagrove Jnr); Programas (director: Parrish Smith); Finally Sayin What I Really Mean (director: Monique Woods); Cherps (director: Kolton Lee) and Sisters in Law (directors: Florence Ayisi & Kim Longinotto).
