Renowned Novelist Reads at UWI, Mona
The Department of Literatures in English, UWI, Mona, in collaboration with the Jamaica National Bicentenary Committee, invites the University community and the public to hear acclaimed Nigerian novelist Chinua Achebe read from his work on Thursday, January 4 at 4:00 p.m. at the Undercroft. A prolific novelist, poet and essayist, Chinua Achebe is best known for the canonical texts Things Fall Apart (1958), No Longer at Ease (1960), Arrow of God (1964), A Man of the People (1966) and Anthills of the Savannah (1987).
Professor Achebe will read from Things Fall Apart, as well as from his poetry, before taking questions from the audience. A book signing will follow.
He will also address the Cultural Rally to be held on Tuesday, January 2 at Emancipation Park, to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the abolition of slavery.
