Research Day 2007
The University of the West Indies, Mona hosts its annual Research Day on Thursday, January 25 and Friday, January 26 under the theme: “Higher Education: Pathway to Success.” Research Day 2007 will be declared open on January 25 by Minister of Education and Youth, Honourable Maxine Henry Wilson who will also be the guest speaker for the opening ceremony commencing at 9 am at the Undercroft.
The two day event features an exhibition in the Assembly Hall showcasing research in which UWI is engaged. Special research awards will also be presented in the following categories: Best Research Publication, Research Project Attracting the Most Research Funds, the Most Outstanding Researcher or Research Activity and the Research Project with the Greatest Business/Social/ Developmental Impact across faculties and the Centre for Gender and Development Studies.
There will also be four public forums under the theme: “Higher Education: Pathway to Success” at the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre. Tours of the campus will be conducted throughout the day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on January 25 and 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. However, tours to the departments of Faculty of Medical Sciences are scheduled for day two and will end at 12 noon. Various faculties will also have including: tours of facilities, seminars, demonstrations, poster display and video presentations.
