The Jamaican Historical Society will mark the anniversary of the 1907 earthquake with two presentations on January 23, in the Multifunction Room of the Main Library, UWI, Mona at 6:00 pm. Dr. Margaret Wiggins-Grandison of the Earthquake Unit, Department of Geography and Geology, UWI and M.A. student Antoinette Brown of the Department of History and Archaeology will make presentations on the topic “The 1907 Earthquake”. Ms. Brown will share specifically on The Role of the Catholics in the Aftermath of the Earthquake.
The Institute of Jamaica will also be mounting an exhibition to mark the centenary of the earthquake. The Exhibition opens at 11:00 am on Sunday, January 14 and will run until the end of February.
