The 13th International Diabetes Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, Montego Bay from Thursday, March 1 to Sunday, March 4 under the theme: “The Diabetic Kidney”. Kidney disease is a serious complication of diabetes which can be prevented with proper management; hence the conference will highlight the importance of the kidneys in the life of the person with diabetes. It will also bring to the fore issues relating to the prevention, treatment and management of diabetes.
The Opening Ceremony takes place on Thursday, March 1 at 11:00 am and will be followed by the Sir Alister McIntyre Distinguished Lecture to be delivered by Dr Jean Marie Ekoe, Professor of Medicine, University of Montreal, Canada. The conference is open to medical and non-medical persons, including persons with diabetes. The event is being hosted by the University Diabetes Outreach Programme in collaboration with the Caribbean Institute of Nephrology (CIN) and Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI).
