The presenter, is Dr. Alvaro D. Taveira, Professor and Chair, Department of Occupational and Environmental Safety & Health, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Professor Alvaro Taveira, is a well-recognised expert in this field and has published extensively on the topic. His talk will address the social and technical aspects of ergonomics and psychosocial factors related to ergonomics. He will also emphasise Participatory and Community Ergonomics.

According to Professor Ishenkumba Kahwa, Director of the Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health (OESH). “Ergonomic problems are believed to be very prevalent in Jamaica but are not brought to the fore due to a grossly inadequate system of under and non-reporting of occupational injuries and diseases. Ergonomic-related problems he constitute the primary compensable claim item and the highest claim item in most Developed Countries.”
