The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, will have a new Security Provider effective April 1. Guardsman Limited has been awarded a two-year contract as security provider on the decision of the Finance & General Purposes Committee meeting of February 28, 2007.
The decision was based on the unanimous recommendation of a Tender Committee that considered invited tenders consequent on the fact that the contract with the current providers, MILEX, expires on March 31. The Tender Committee recommendation was based on three main criteria applied to tenders received, namely: managerial and supervisory capability; technical capability (including electronic security methods) and credible financial costs. In all three categories, Guardsman topped the qualified tenders in the judgement of the Committee.
Discussions have been held with both current and incoming providers to facilitate a smooth transition. The cooperation of all staff and students in this transitional period would be appreciated. The University has expressed its appreciation to the Management and personnel of MILEX for their years of service to the campus.
