The Department of Educational Studies Science and Mathematics Department, the UWI, Mona holds a Regional Symposium from May 24-25 at the Medallion Hall Hotel. The Symposium targets early childhood and primary school teachers under the theme Making Mathematics Work: Building Solid Foundations in the Early Years.”

Professor Mike Askew of Kings College, University of London will deliver the keynote address. The Symposium will also feature workshop sessions on topics such as: Problem solving, Teaching young children mathematics through literature, Making the most of mental mathematics and Making Sense of Decimals.
