UWI Presents Sporting Workshops For Young Student Athletes

Another Top A Di Top Workshop in the Series is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 9 at 2 pm at the UWI Playing Field, UWI, Mona. The focus of this week’s workshop session will be netball. Several top netballers are slated to share with young student athletes at the Workshop including members from the National Netball Programme.

“Top A Di Top” Workshops are interactive sporting sessions organized by UWI Games and CNIS Limited targeting young athletes who are primarily from schools in the neighbourhood of the Mona Campus. The Series is aimed at providing an opportunity for young student athletes to meet and interact with top sports men and women in a practical workshop setting in order to encourage excellence in the field. It is also a part of the build up to the UWI Games taking place at UWI, Mona from May 17-24.

Previous workshops held in the Series at the UWI Playing Field focused on athletics, football and cricket. Some of the presenters from the first workshop included three time Olympian and Student Services and Development Manager, Sport, UWI, Mona, Grace Jackson, Olympian Aleen Bailey and top Jamaican athlete, Germaine Gonsales. The second workshop featured presentations from former West Indian Cricket team captain, Ambassador Courtney Walsh, former Jamaica Cricket team captain, Robert Samuels, top personalities from Jamaica’s Premier League team, Portmore United, Anthony Modeste, Sean Sawyers and Mario Swaby among other top athletes.
