Climate Change Impacts on the Caribbean: Tourism & Insurance

The University of the West Indies, Mona and CARICOM’s Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre are jointly hosting a conference on Climate Change Impacts on the Caribbean: Tourism and Insurance. In the context of the recently released report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), this conference will focus on many of the findings of direct relevance to the Caribbean, and take an assessment of our responses to these changes so far.

The conference begins with an Opening Ceremony on Friday, June 15 at 6:00 pm at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge and Conference Centre. Professor Anthony Chen, Department of Physics, UWI, Mona and Dr. Leonard Nurse, Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES), Cave Hill and Chairman of the Board of the Climate Change Centre will give keynote presentations.

The conference follows at the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, UWI, Mona on June 16 - 17, beginning at 8:30 a.m. daily where scholars, policy makers, consultants, private sector leaders, and civil society activists from across the Caribbean will make panel presentations.
